Who We Are

Morton Junior High School is located in Morton, IL and currently has an enrollment of 509 students. 


As a member of the Illinois Elementary School Association (IESA) since the early 1930s, MJHS competes in the IESA state series in baseball, boys' and girls' basketball, cross-country, chess, golf, scholastic bowl, softball, track & field, volleyball, and wrestling.   


Morton Junior High also offers Special Olympics basketball and bowling (Red Wings), cheerleading, dance, band, orchestra, and choir. 


Morton CUSD #709 partners with the Morton Park District and its auxiliary programs to share facilities.  Morton CUSD #709 provides gymnasium space for the Morton Basketball Association (Morton Heat).  MJHS coordinates with the Morton Youth Baseball Association (MYBA) and Morton Girls Softball Association (MGSA) the use and upkeep Westwood Park and Birchwood Park, respectively.  Morton also collaborates with the Kennel Lake Sportsmen Club for the use of the cross-country's home course.
