Who We Are

The Academy, which opened in 2008, is open to students who are academically talented and interested in math, science, and technology. Moving to the new, larger school allowed the program to expand from 25 students at each grade level to 75-100 students in fourth through eighth grades.

The building was previously Madonna High School, then Aurora Central Catholic High School before it was bought by the city of Aurora. When the city owned the building, it was used for various city functions and youth programs.
The building was named the Fred Rodgers Community Center in 2009. Rodgers is an icon in Aurora, where he mentored hundreds of kids. He started working with the city of Aurora in 1986 and eventually became the city’s youth services director.
